U.S. Ambassador (ret.) John W. McDonald is a lawyer, diplomat, former international civil servant, development expert and peacebuilder.  Concerned about world social, economic and ethnic problems, he spent 20 years of his career in Western Europe/Middle East.  He worked for 16  years on United Nations economic and social affairs. IMTD focuses on national and international ethnic conflicts, including the Millennium goals of global clean drinking water and sanitation. polkinghornBrian Polkinghorn – President

Brian is Distinguished Professor of Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolution at Salisbury University, Maryland.  He has worked in the conflict intervention field since 1985 in multiple roles. He is currently a Fulbright Program Ambassador and past recipient of University System of Maryland’s Distinguished Public Service Award.

Brian has published widely and is the recipient of more than 60 grants.  He has taught and practiced in more than a dozen countries including peace talks support and civil society training in the Middle East and Nepal. Contact Brian Polkinghorn.

dickmanKaren Dickman – Executive Director

Reverend Karen Dickman is a mediator/conflict professional specializing in restorative justice.  Her background is in working with people with AIDS, mental illness, ex-offenders, and victims of violent crimes.  She has worked in jails and prisons and is a frequent speaker at conferences and universities on religion and restorative justice.  Karen also manages the partnership with Sovereignty First, in addition to overseeing our Water Program. dasRajit Das – Director, DM&E/ Asia Program

Rajit oversees the direction of Program Officers, providing guidance for project evaluations.  He also manages the Kashmir peacebuilding program, and evaluates its effectiveness.  A conference presenter on India, Rajit also edited IMTD’s 2014 Annual Report. Contact Rajit Das.

kelly-2Peter Kelly  – Communications Director; Director, Ireland Program

Peter serves as Director of Communications and oversees the Ireland Peace Process Support program. A frequently published journalist and speechwriter, he is also an Advisory Board Member for September 11th survivors in New York. Peter has worked on global media and NGO justice campaigns and spoken at several international counter terrorism conferences. Contact Peter Kelly.

vayaliparampilDr. Regina Vayaliparampil – Director, Nepal Program

Regina brings together various local stakeholders to build peace in Nepal.  She trains in nonpartisan reporting, teaching and employment opportunities.  She has interned with UNICEF focusing on water sanitation and hygiene in India.  Regina previously taught Math, Science and English in the UAE and India. zemansAdam Zemans – Legal Advisor; Director, Latin American & Climate Change Program

Adam is IMTD’s former Executive Director and founded the John McDonald Peacebuilding Clinic.  He leads the Climate Change & Human Security Program.  Serving as Legal Advisor to IMTD he has extensive background in international family conflict resolution.  He established both client service outreach and expanded the recruitment of our intern staff.
